Taiwan Semiconductor ticks higher after earnings beat

U.S.-listed shares of Taiwan Semiconductor rose 0.7% in the premarket after the chipmaker posted second-quarter earnings that beat expectations.

The company earned NT$247.85 billion on revenue of NT$673.51 billion. Analysts polled by LSEG expected net income of NT$238.8 billion on revenue of NT$657.58 billion.

CEO C.C. Wei pointed to strong demand for the company’s AI chips as a source for the strong results. He noted that he tries to “reach the supply and demand balance, but I cannot. Today, the demand is so high I had to work very hard to meet customer demand.”

“The supply continues to be pretty tight, all the way through 2025,” Wei warned, adding that the firm hopes the tight supply can ease in 2026.
