When it comes to albums and pure sales in America, most artists hope to see their new releases debut with a huge sum, as they’re all but guaranteed to drop off in the next few weeks. This is simply how most people consume music these days. The vast majority of titles can’t continue to sell well after a few frames–that is, of course, except for Taylor Swift.

The pop superstar’s latest set, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), is bucking that trend. Not only is the re-recording still selling well, it’s outpacing every other bestseller in the country, and by a sizable margin–even though it’s been out for a long time.

In its ninth week on the Top Album Sales chart, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the bestselling titles in the country, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) earns another turn at No. 1. The full-length ranks as the bestselling product in the nation for the fourth time, and it wasn’t even close.

As it passes two months spent on the Top Album Sales chart, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) sold another 60,688 copies, according to numbers shared by Luminate. That sum is easily enough to make it the bestselling title in the country…though Swift was only competing with herself this time around.

The No. 2 title on this week’s Top Album Sales chart also comes from Swift. The singer’s 2022 drop Midnights keeps in the runner-up space, but it didn’t make a real play for the summit. In the past tracking period, Midnights sold just under 24,000 copies.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) sold so well in the most recent tracking period, it even outpaced both the Nos. 2 and 3 projects on this week’s Top Album Sales chart combined. In addition to Midnights sitting at No. 2, Stray Kids’s 5 Star rises to No. 3 with nearly 23,000 copies purchased. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) sold more than both of those efforts, with nearly enough room to also include the No. 4 bestseller–which is also from Swift.

It’s nearly unheard of these days for any album to sell 60,000 copies after around two months of availability. Very few releases can come close to managing that kind of showing at any point, even during the busy and especially lucrative holiday shopping season. In fact, the majority of new offerings, even from superstars, can’t hit that number in their debut frame, let alone weeks later.
