Microsoft’s $68.7 billion deal to accumulate Activision Blizzard has been blocked by the UK’s Competitors and Markets Authority (CMA). After months of analyzing 3 million Microsoft and Activision paperwork and greater than 2,100 emails from the general public, the CMA has concluded that the deal may “alter the way forward for the fast-growing cloud gaming market, resulting in decreased innovation and fewer alternative for UK avid gamers over time to return.”
The ultimate choice is a blow to Microsoft’s hopes of buying Activision Blizzard. “Microsoft has a robust place in cloud gaming companies and the proof out there to the CMA confirmed that Microsoft would discover it commercially useful to make Activision’s video games unique to its personal cloud gaming service,”…
