Markets regulator SEBI on Wednesday prolonged the deadline for mutual fund account holders until January 1, to appoint a beneficiary or choose out of it by submitting a declaration kind, failing which their folios shall be frozen.

Earlier, the deadline for present mutual fund holders to offer a alternative of nomination was on or earlier than September 30.
